Wimbledon could be playing their home matches in Milton Keynes from October after benefactor Peter Winkelman's consortium agreed to fund the renovation of the National Hockey Stadium. The Dons - currently in administration - have been desperately seeking a home ground since the National Hockey Foundation pulled the plug on the move in June.
Wimbledon now plan to start the season at Selhurst Park, where they have been groundsharing with Crystal Palace since leaving Plough Lane.
But the Stadium MK consortium Winkelman heads has now agreed to pay for turnstiles, new stands and a new pitch so the hockey venue can meet Football League requirements by October.
Winkelman said in a statement: "We are delighted to have reached an agreement that will give Wimbledon Football Club the chance to play its home matches at the National Hockey Stadium until the stadium at Denbigh North is completed."
The Dons eventually plan to move to a permanent 28,000-seater home in Denbigh.
