Wigan have signed Honduras defender Maynor Figueroa on loan until the end of the season, subject to receiving international clearance. The 24-year-old joins from Deportivo Olimpia - the club from which Wigan signed Wilson Palacios - following a three-week trial with the Latics.
Wigan boss Steve Bruce told the club's website: "He's strong, he's quick and has a superb left foot.
"I think he has the attributes to adapt to the English game."
Figueroa, who has 47 international caps, said: "I have always had an ambition to play in England and now I have the chance to prove myself in what I consider to be the best league in the world. I am excited by the challenge."
