Wigan boss Hutchings is excited by the prospect of working with Barlow |
Wigan boss Chris Hutchings has named Frank Barlow as his assistant. Barlow, 60, has coached for over 30 years and managed at Nottingham Forest, Scunthorpe and Chesterfield.
Hutchings told Wigan's website: "I'm very excited about working with him, he was always my first choice and will bring fresh ideas.
"I need someone I can trust implicitly when it comes to football knowledge, you can't get more experience than he's got, he knows players inside-out."
Hutchings replaced Paul Jewell at the end of last season, after Wigan secured a dramatic last-day survival.
The Wigan boss added: "He knows how to motivate players, and how to get the best out of them.
"He's an absolutely superb, top line coach, and I'm confident he will have a big impact at Wigan."
Barlow was most recently assistant boss at Hull, following a long spell as joint caretaker boss at Forest.
