Valencia cost Villarreal 1.2m last summer from CD El Nacional |
Wigan have completed the signing of Villarreal midfielder Luis Antonio Valencia on a year's loan deal. The 21-year-old Ecuadorian, who can play in the middle or on the right, is now waiting for a work permit.
"Antonio is something new for Wigan," said Latics boss Paul Jewell. "He has skill in abundance and combines it with electric pace and a high work-rate."
Valencia has 19 caps for his country and played at the World Cup finals, featuring in the 1-0 defeat to England.
Jewell added: "He has played in Europe for a season, and I'm convinced he has the attributes to make a success of the Premiership."
Valencia joined Villarreal last year but had a spell on loan with Recreativo Huelva.
