Walsh is keen to link up with his former boss Paul Jewell |
Wigan boss Paul Jewell has confirmed goalkeeper Gary Walsh could sign for the First Division club in the near future. Jewell is well aware of the former Bradford keeper's capabilities from his days as manager at Valley Parade and Walsh could be the right man to provide back up for John Filan.
"I know all about Gary from my time at Bradford," Jewell told the club's official website.
"But we want to have a look at him in training and in matches to gauge his fitness levels.
"He's had a few injuries of late and we want to see him in action to make a judgement.
"If he can prove his fitness he may well be exactly what we're looking for as cover for John Filan," Jewell added.
Walsh has plenty of top-level experience, having been understudy to Peter Schmeichel at Old Trafford until 1995.
He then spent two years at Middlesbrough before moving to Bradford in 1997.
