Reo-Coker scored the only goal in West Ham's win over Man Utd

Reo-Coker has received abusive mail and was jeered before Sunday's match with Manchester United from fans who blame him for the sacking of Alan Pardew.

"I think we've got to draw a line under the situation," said new boss Curbishley of his 22-year-old skipper.

"I'm asking all the West Ham fans to get behind the team and get behind Reo-Coker as well."

West Ham are currently third bottom in the Premiership table, having taken 17 points from 18 games.

"We're not in the best of positions and we need to win some games to pull us away from the position we find ourselves in," added Curbishley, who will preside over his second game in charge at Fulham on Saturday.

"So we need everyone pulling in the same direction - everyone coming to the games getting behind the West Ham team is what we need.

"There has been a lot said this week and a lot of headlines but we've got to start making headlines for other reasons, we got great press after the Manchester United result including Nigel.

"We've got to got out and do it on the pitch and we need the fans to support us off it."

Curbishley wants everyone to pull together to help the club move out of the bottom three - starting at Fulham.

"I'm calling on the fans to get behind everybody," said the new boss.

"I hope they do. We've taken all our end at Fulham on Saturday and I hope they make it the atmosphere that I've seen from afar and they get behind everyone."

And Curbishley added that Reo-Coker has handled the situation well - and that it will not affect his play.

"It's not such a big deal, even though there's been a fuss about it," said for the former Charlton boss.

"If I declared every abusive letter I got I'd be in the newspapers every other day. Who knows who sent it, we all get letters like that so let's get on with it.

"I saw the letter - no-one signed it, no address and it was just about joined-up writing, so I didn't read to much into it."
