Pantsil played for Ghana at the World Cup |
West Ham have completed the signing of Ghana defender John Paintsil from Hapoel Tel Aviv after the 25-year-old received a work permit. Paintsil earned a four-year contract as part of a deal worth up to 1m after impressing in a pre-season trial.
"I'm so happy to have signed. It was one of the easiest decisions I've ever made," he told the club website.
"My dream has always been to play in the Premiership as I watched English football when I was growing up."
Paintsil played in all four of Ghana's games at this year's World Cup, in his preferred position of right back and in central defence.
West Ham boss Alan Pardew has been looking for a permanent right-back since the departure of Tomas Repka in January, with loan signing Lionel Scaloni filling in for the second half of the season.
