Adebayor figured in 34 of Monaco's 38 league games last season |
West Ham are to look at other transfer targets after missing out on Monaco striker Emmanuel Adebayor. The Hammers had agreed a price for the 21-year-old, thought to be 6m, and agreed personal terms with the player.
But at the last minute, the French club decided they did not want to sell the Togo international.
"This is disappointing not only for us but for the player who was excited about moving to England," said West Ham managing director Paul Aldridge.
"Unfortunately, unless Monaco change their decision the deal cannot be completed and manager Alan Pardew will now move on to look at other transfer targets."
Adebayor scored 17 goals in two seasons since moving to Monaco from Metz in a 2m deal.
He was linked with Aston Villa and Arsenal as well as the Hammers during the summer.
