Pardew's summer spending is not over yet |
West Ham manager Alan Pardew says he is still hopeful of signing at least one striker before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month. Earlier this week a deal for Monaco striker Emmanuel Adebayor fell through at the last minute.
"We've set our sights high because of the quality we've already got in that area," he said.
"There's no point bringing in someone not on a level with them, so any player in that mould, we're interested in."

Pardew said it was probably too late to bring anyone in before the Premiership season starts on 13 August, but fans could expect to see new faces up front soon, in addition to the new defenders already signed.
"We're in the process of bringing in maybe two strikers before the end of the transfer window," he said.
"It's probably a bit tight for next week but we will certainly have a go.
"I'm really happy with the guys I've brought in, we certainly feel we're strong in almost every department except up front, where we need to strengthen a bit."
Pardew admitted he was disappointed at having missed out on Adebayor, with a deal having looked so close to completion.
"Monaco released the player for us to speak to, and we'd got the process of almost agreeing terms, until they changed their mind, as they had every right to," said Pardew.
"But I'm a great believer in fate, and as one door closes another one opens, and we've got other targets."
Former Upton Park favourite Freddie Kanoute has been linked with a return to the club after two years at Tottenham, and Pardew did not comment when asked if the Mali international was on his hit-list.
