Valero impressed during his season-long loan back in Spain
West Brom have turned down an undisclosed offer from Spanish side Sevilla for midfielder Borja Valero.
He spent last season on loan at former club Real Mallorca having struggled to adapt at The Hawthorns after his club record £4.7m move in August 2008.
"There have been lots of rumours about Sevilla being interested but this was the first bid we've had from them," said sporting director Dan Ashworth.
"It was rejected as it's nowhere near what we'd regard as acceptable".
Mallorca had first option on buying the 25-year-old after an impressive season, but the Palma-based team are unable to finance the deal after entering administration.
"Borja enjoyed an outstanding season in Spain and we have just been promoted to the top flight," added Ashworth.
"If we do not receive a satisfactory offer for Borja, we are more than happy for him to rejoin us for pre-season training in three weeks' time and be a part of our Premier League squad."
