West Bromwich Albion have completed a £175,00 deal for Paris Saint-Germain defensive midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu.
The 22-year-old initially joined the Baggies on loan in January, but has now made the move permanent penning a one-year contract.
Mulumbu made six appearances during his loan in an injury hit spell.
"I saw him play for West Brom last season, he could be the player we're looking for in defensive midfield," said Baggies boss Roberto di Matteo.
Mulumbu, who was capped once by France Under-21s but now plays for the Democratic Republic of Congo, joined PSG in 2004 and signed his first professional contract two years later.
He spent the 2007-08 season on loan at French Ligue Two side Amiens, scoring once in 23 appearances.
Di Matteo added: "Youssouf didn't get an extended run last year because of his injuries but he did well when he was in the team. I'm delighted he's now joined us on a permanent basis.
"He's still young and I'm sure he will get better the more games he plays for us."
Albion have the option of extending the deal for a further year next summer.
