West Bromwich Albion have signed 25-year-old left-back Marek Cech from Porto for �1.4m.
The Slovakia international has signed a three-year deal with the newly-promoted side who open their Premier League campaign at Arsenal on 16 August.
The defender was part of the Porto side that won the domestic league title in Portugal last season and also appeared in the Champions League.
Cech has now flown out for West Brom's pre-season tour of Holland and Germany.
The 6ft 1in defender has made 29 senior appearances for his country, scoring
three goals - including two in a 5-0 Euro 2008 qualifying win over San Marino in
November.
