Striker Kevin Phillips says speculation he has turned down a new contract at West Bromwich Albion is nonsense.

Newspaper reports suggested Albion's 24-goal top scorer was ready to quit the club when his contract expires in the summer after rejecting a new deal.

But Phillips said: "I want to stress to the supporters that this is nonsense. I haven't rejected a new contract.

"We're all going to sit down after our season has finished and try to come to an agreement over the future."

Albion chairman Jeremy Peace has confirmed that talks with the 34-year-old are ongoing.
