West Brom have rejected a transfer request from Curtis Davies but have suggested they are open to offers for the England Under-21 defender. The Baggies skipper, 22, is keen to play in the Premier League.
West Brom boss Tony Mowbray said: "I admire Curtis as a player and a person and would very much like him to stay and lead the team next season.
"He is sensible enough to realise the price has to be right for us to even consider letting him go."
The Baggies have indicated they are keen to keep their star players following their defeat in last season's Championship play-off final.
And Mowbray is adamant that if Davies does leave the club, it will not be on the cheap.
"I've always said I only want players here who want to play for the club but that doesn't mean to say we're going to let players walk away," he added.
"In the past 12 months precedents have been set whereby defenders have moved for big fees and we rate Curtis very highly."
