West Brom skipper Curtis Davies will be out of action for up to ten weeks with a broken bone in his left foot. The West Brom skipper picked up the injury in the 2-0 defeat against Sunderland on Monday but it was hoped he had only bruised his foot.
But scans have revealed that Davies has broken a metatarsal and will not play again until November.
Boss Bryan Robson said: "It's obviously a big blow because Curtis is our captain and a very important player."
Robson added: "But this means it's a great chance for other players in the squad, like Paul McShane.
"When young players get a chance it's up to them to prove they're worth a place in the team."
Senegal forward Diomansy Kamara has signed a new contract which will keep him at the Hawthorns until the summer of 2010, with the club having an option for a further year. Baggies boss Bryan Robson said: "He should be a big asset in this division
once he is fit because he showed in certain games in the Premiership what a real
danger he can be."
