Hartson relishing new challenge
John Hartson
Hartson scored 20 goals for Celtic last season
Striker John Hartson is determined to assist West Brom's charge to regain their Premiership status and insists his move was not financially based.

The 31-year-old left Celtic to sign a two-year contract at the Hawthorns.

And he told the club's website: "I spoke to several managers but I told Bryan Robson if a deal could be done, I would like to come and play here.

"It's not about money. I could have earned more money if I stayed at Celtic as I had a year to run on my contract."

The former Arsenal and West Ham forward added: "The manager told me he was hoping to come straight back up and he wanted to hold on to everybody in the squad.

"When I looked at the squad of players and listened to the manager there was never any doubt this was the place I was going to come.

"I just really wanted the challenge of trying to take West Brom straight back up to the Premiership."

Hartson scored 20 goals in 41 appearances for Celtic last season on their way to securing the Scottish Premier League title.
