Kanu linked the play well for West Brom |
West Brom's Kanu has urged his team-mates to adopt an attacking strategy in a bid to prove the critics, who say the Baggies will go down, wrong. The former Arsenal striker made an impressive debut in West Brom's opening 1-1 draw at Blackburn, which saw the promoted side take a first-half lead.
Kanu said: "If you defend and defend and defend a goal will come.
"We know we can play but must believe in ourselves. We did not do what we had to do because we allowed them to play."
Kanu added: "When we want to go forward we should go forward and that's what we have learned. We don't have to sit back for any team."
Kanu held the ball up well for West Brom and Megson was delighted with the Nigerian international's performance.
The West Brom boss said: "Kanu was absolutely terrific and his quality on the ball is marvellous.
"He will draw the best out of others in the team and there were times when he led them a right merry dance."
