West Brom have cancelled the contract of Lee Hughes after he was found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving. Hughes was convicted on Monday after a six-day trial at Coventry Crown court.
He was given a six-year jail sentence for his role in a car crash which resulted in the death of father-of-four Douglas Graham.
"West Bromwich Albion has decided to terminate Lee Hughes' contract, which had two years left to run," confirmed the Hawthorns club.
The statement added: "The club would like to take this opportunity to express its deepest sympathies to the Graham family on the loss of Mr Douglas Graham.
"Its thoughts are with Mrs Maureen Graham, Mr Albert Frisby and Mr Frank Gosling, who were injured in the incident."
