Watford keeper Scott Loach was happy with his performance and clean sheet in Tuesday's win over Plymouth.

On-loan Manchester United striker Tom Cleverley scored the only goal of the game for the Hornets on four minutes.

Loach, 21, kept a clean sheet at the other end and admitted his second-half saves proved vital: "That's when you really need to keep your team in it."

Watford manager Malky Mackay said: "Without a doubt Scott made two or three world class saves."

Mackay added: "There were a couple that were reaction saves and they were just immense. That's why he's England's Under-21 goalkeeper at the moment."

While Loach was pleased with his own performance he was reluctant to take all the plaudits.

"I got away with a few things, perhaps I could have come for a few of the crosses leading up to the saves, but luckily I kept myself out of jail," stated Loach.

"I've got to give credit to the team as I thought they were outstanding in front of me."

With an England Under-21 appearance already under his belt, Loach thinks the game against Plymouth showed what he is capable of.

Loach said: "I'm 21 and still learning. If I can play like that and still feel that in myself I can improve then I'm pretty happy because hopefully I can go on and do big things.

"Playing in this team is only going to make me bigger and stronger because they are a great group of lads and I really expect high things for our team."
