Boothroyd doesn't want to get involved in the row over finance
Watford manager Aidy Boothroyd says he is staying out of the row over the club's financial situation.
Chairman Graham Simpson has defended the board after criticism from former chairman Sir Elton John about the running of the Vicarage Road outfit.
Boothroyd told BBC Three Counties that both are passionate about the club.
"Graham has given me a chance here and I'm indebted to him," he said. "Elton loves Watford, and it's a difficult situation for me to comment on."
The row is threatening to overshadow Saturday's home game with Preston.
Boothroyd added: "Graham is a Watford fan through and through and anybody who puts their own money into the club has my utmost respect.
"Elton's the same. A guy that has put his life and soul into the club, and has an opinion, as does Graham."
Asked if he would act as peacemaker, Boothroyd replied: "What I would say to that is what they would say to me: 'Shut up, it's none of your business. You get on with running the team, get the team winning rather than pass an opinion'. So, I'll take that advice."
