Walsall manager Chris Hutchings said he appreciated the stroke of luck that helped his team earn a 1-1 draw against Carlisle at Brunton Park on Tuesday.
Michael Ricketts scored an 84th-minute equaliser from the penalty spot after the referee ruled that Sofiene Zaaboub had been fouled.
"I think it was a bit dubious," Hutchings admitted to BBC WM.
"I don't know whether he's got a clip and a dive, or a bit of both, but the referee was right on the spot."
But despite the nature of the Saddlers' equaliser, Hutchings felt his team fought hard for their point.
"I think Carlisle shaded the first half and had a few chances, and we rode our luck a little bit," said Hutchings.
"But we changed things round a little bit in the second half, and I thought we had a bit more energy and looked more of a threat."
Jabo Ibehre and Troy Deeney started the game up front for Walsall, but were replaced after an hour by Sam Williams and Ricketts.
"It doesn't matter what two we start, the other two on the bench are always going to be a handful," said Hutchings.
"I thought they [the substitutes] changed the game."
