Walsall manager Richard Money is hoping to increase his striking options for the Saddlers' promotion run-in by signing Stefan Moore.

The 24-year-old former Aston Villa forward has played for Walsall's reserves following his release from Queens Park Rangers.

Money told BBC WM: "We like what we see and we're in some discussions, but nothing's been sorted yet.

"He's got great movement and a good understanding of how we want to play."

Moore started his career at Villa Park alongside his younger brother Luke and the pair helped Villa to win the FA Youth Cup in 2002 against an Everton side which included Wayne Rooney.

He's probably another player who's come to a crossroads in his career, who feels that he hasn't reached his potential

But he was allowed to leave after making nine Premier League starts, signing for Queens Park Rangers on a free transfer in 2005 before loan spells at Chesterfield, Millwall and Leicester City.

He made 19 league starts and a further 20 substitute appearances for QPR, scoring three goals.

Now Walsall have offered the Birmingham-born striker the chance to resurrect his career.

Money said: "He's probably another player who's come to a crossroads in his career, who feels that he hasn't reached his potential.

"But I remember him from his Villa days when he was scoring a lot of goals for their reserves and hopefully we can get him back to that sort of level."
