Walsall player-boss Paul Merson has signed defender Lee Vaughan from Portsmouth on a non-contract basis until the end of the season. Vaughan's career began in the Birmingham youth team before a move to Fratton Park, where the 18-year-old failed to settle.
Merson has also allowed midfielder Nathan Jameson to leave the club.
He has joined Dr Martens League Division One West outfit Bromsgrove Rovers on a one-month loan.
