Moore not drawn on takeover talk

Manager Ronnie Moore insists that talk of a possible takeover at Tranmere will not distract his players ahead of their season closing game at Northampton.

Rovers are refusing to comment on speculation linking them with a Portuguese consortium.

Moore told BBC Radio Merseyside: "I don't know how much truth is in it. We get paid to work and that is what we will do.

"We're looking for a win on Saturday to finish as high as we can."

Moore's contract, along with those of a number of his first-team players, runs out in the summer.

But he is refusing to get worried about what the future might hold for the club.

"We're in eighth spot and that's as far as we can go this year so we want to keep that spot," he said.

"Whatever happens in the future happens. Other people have your destiny in their hands then."

Having missed out on the League One play-offs in each of his two seasons in charge at Prenton Park, Moore admits he would like the opportunity to complete the job of guiding Tranmere into the Championship.

"The supporters who've been here have seen us trying to play positive football," he added.

"They know we're only one or two players short of being top class at this level."
