Ronnie Moore knows his side's away form needs to improve
Ronnie Moore believes that his side's lack of killer instinct has cost them promotion from League One this season.
Moore and assistant Peter Shirtliff are out of contract in the summer along with a number of the first team squad.
But Moore is still keen to focus on matters on the pitch, pointing out: "That will be sorted one way or another. I just want to finish well.
"We have basically cut our own throats. We're not ruthless enough. We've not killed teams off when we should have."
Tranmere's promotion hopes were effectively ended with Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Huddersfield. And Moore felt his side had only themselves to blame for their poor away form.
"I can not fault their effort. It is not like they have not tried," he said. "They have played well again but we have not put the knife in."
It was the away form that cost us last year. And it has certainly been the away form that has cost us this season

Ninth-placed Tranmere have won just five times on the road, picking up a mere 22 points from their 22 away games, similar to the 23 they got from 23 games last season.
"It was the away form that cost us last year," he said. "And it has certainly been the away form that has cost us this season."
But Moore wants his team to end the season on form both home and away.
Rovers must now prepare for a home game against Southend before ending their league campaign on the road at Northampton. And Moore said: "We have got two tough games to play and we have just lost three on the trot, which is not nice at this time of the season"
"But we've got two games left and we have got to finish with wins.
"I want to go and lead a side out at Wembley and, if you are a footballer, you have got to give your all for it."
