Tranmere Rovers have appointed former Preston assistant manager Kelham O'Hanlon to work alongside Ray Mathias at Prenton Park.
The much-travelled former goalkeeper played over 600 matches throughout his career, gaining international honours with the Republic of Ireland.
He forged a successful partnership with David Moyes at Deepdale and helped to lead them to second division title in 2000.
"It's great to have someone like Kelham working alongside me," said Mathias. "He's worked hard with the players in pre-season and he brings a great deal of coaching experience with him."
O'Hanlon replaces David Kelly who left midway through a two-year contract to join Sheffield United.
Tranmere maintained their unbeaten pre-season record with a 2-1 victory over Preston on Tuesday evening.
Captain Graham Allen and Iain Hume scored the goals with David Healy pulling one back.
