Sheedy wants Tranmere job
John Aldridge and Kevin Sheedy
Sheedy (r) is in temporary charge of Tranmere
Tranmere caretaker manager Kevin Sheedy says he is interested in becoming boss on a permanent basis.

But the former Everton midfielder admits his application will only have a chance of succeeding if he makes a decent job of keeping Rovers in Division One.

My main concern is keeping Tranmere in the First Division
  Kevin Sheedy

"I am now in a position to help the club and I'll give it 100 percent. All I can do is do a good job and then someone will make a decision," he said.

"My main concern is keeping Tranmere in the First Division. We've got 11 games left, we can't afford to feel sorry for ourselves.

"The players have accepted their share of the responsibility. The only way they can prove that now is by their performances on the pitch."

Sheedy revealed that he tried to persuade John Aldridge not to quit as manager.

"All the ups and downs over the years took their toll on John," said Sheedy. "We tried to talk him round but he felt it was in his best interests to resign."
