Tottenham's Niko Kranjcar ruled out for rest of season
Croatian international Kranjcar has 45 caps for his country
Tottenham midfielder Niko Kranjcar has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury suffered in the FA Cup semi-final last Sunday.
The 25-year-old Croatia international damaged ligaments during his side's 2-0 defeat by Portsmouth at Wembley.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp said: "The courage he showed was amazing to play on. He'll need a nasty operation."
The loss of Kranjcar will be a big blow to Spurs as they battle for fourth place and a Champions league spot.
He has scored eight goals for Spurs since signing for £2m from Portsmouth in August 2009 and would have been a key figure in Tottenham's difficult run-in.
Spurs, who are one point behind fourth-placed Manchester City, host Premier League leaders Chelsea on Saturday, before travelling to second-placed Manchester United a week later.
After a home match with Bolton, Spurs face a crunch visit to Eastlands on 5 May to play City in their penultimate game of the season before finishing their campaign with a trip to Burnley.
