Tottenham's record 16.5m signing Darren Bent reckons Barcelona got Thierry Henry on the cheap when they signed him from Arsenal. Bent's price tag raised eyebrows as Spurs paid 400,000 more for the striker than Barcelona paid for Henry.
Bent, 23, told BBC Five Live: "I think Barca got Thierry on the cheap as I'd have put him in the 30m bracket.
"But the price Charlton put on my head has nothing to do with me, I'm just grateful that Spurs took it."
Bent added that he expects to have to fight for his place at White Hart Lane, with competition from Dimitar Berbatov, Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe.
He said: "I don't expect to walk into the team. Robbie and Jermain were both fantastic last season and Dimitar had a great season.
"I'm aware of the challenge but if me, Dimitar, Robbie and Jermain are all firing, it can only be good for Tottenham."
Bent reportedly turned down a bigger wage offer from West Ham to join Spurs and said: "Money isn't everything and you have to be a strong character.
"I know I want to play at the top level and to play in Europe and, for me, that meant Tottenham.
"In the last two years they have finished fifth and hopefully this year we can break into the top four."
