Davids was left out of Holland's World Cup squad |
Ajax coach Henk ten Cate says he would like to bring Tottenham midfielder Edgar Davids back to Amsterdam. Davids, 33, began his career at Ajax after coming through the club's renowned youth system.
"I have spoken to Edgar about rejoining us and he thinks it is a terrific idea," Ten Cate told the Daily Express.
"We have a lot of young players and he can show them what is needed to reach the top and stay there. He could play a crucial role for us."
Davids joined Spurs from Inter Milan last summer and has a year left on his current deal but has admitted he is considering a move back to his home country.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have been linked with a move for 25-year-old St Etienne midfielder Didier Zakora.
Zakora's agent Franck Belhassen said: "There is interest from a number of clubs in Didier and Tottenham are one of them.
"At the moment he is away with the Ivory Coast preparing for the World Cup and we will wait until after that before deciding his future."
