Tottenham striker Fredi Kanoute says he is desperate to stay at the club despite an end-of-season bust-up. Kanoute, 27, refused to go on the tour of Mauritius for "personal reasons" and has recently been linked with a move to Premiership rivals West Brom.
"It was never my intention to upset anyone at Spurs so I hope there won't be a problem when I return," Kanoute told the Daily Star.
"It has prompted rumours over my future but I really do want to stay."
He added: "I hope I can have a discussion with them soon, so that we all know where we stand.
"There was talk of me moving to West Brom this summer but that isn't something that I would have done.
"There are also rumours I will move back to France but I don't expect that to happen either. It is not possible for many reasons.
"Like I said before, my preference would be to continue playing for Spurs if they want me to."
