Anderton stays at Spurs
Tottenham's Darren Anderton is tackled by Norwich's Paul McVeigh
Anderton was back to form at Carrow Road
Midfielder Darren Anderton has signed up to stay at Tottenham for another year.

The 31-year-old, who has been at White Hart Lane since 1992, had been linked with a return to newly-promoted Portsmouth where he started his career.

Spurs boss Glenn Hoddle was delighted that the former England international has pledged his future to the club.

"I'm very happy to have Darren in my squad for the season," Hoddle said.

"Portsmouth offered Darren a longer deal with more security.

"But we've now taken up the 12-month option we wanted to take up."

Hoddle had good reason to smile after Anderton shone during Tottenham's 3-0 victory in a friendly over Norwich.

He dominated the midfield at Carrow Road and capped a determined performance with a spectacular strike from 30 yards out.

Anderton's opener was followed up by a chip from Simon Davies in the 55th minute and a third goal in two games from 1.5m recruit Bobby Zamora.
