Kanoute would consider joining Spurs |
West Ham striker Freddie Kanoute could still join Spurs despite the signing of Helder Postiga, according to the player's agent. But Celtic striker Chris Sutton is definitely not heading for White Hart Lane, BBC Sport can confirm.
Spurs boss Glenn Hoddle admitted at the news conference to unveil Postiga that he was still looking to further strengthen his striking options.
"It is not beyond the realms of possibility that I will be bringing another new striker in," said Hoddle.
And the number one target could be French international Kanoute.
"I think it is still a possibility that Freddie will be joining Spurs," Kanoute's agent Willie MacKay told this website.
West Ham and Spurs have been in talks over the transfer of the 25-year-old French striker, with the two clubs trying to agree on a fee.
Kanoute himself has previously admitted that he would consider a move to London following West Ham's relegation from the Premiership.
"I would definitely consider the move. I have not asked to leave West Ham but, if Spurs are serious, I would listen," said Kanoute.
Sutton was also considered a target for Tottenham, but his agent revealed that any link was pure speculation.
"Chris has two years to run on his contract and he is happy at Celtic," John Viola told this website.
"There has been absolutely no contact with Spurs or Celtic and myself regarding Chris.
"It is pure speculation, but Glenn Hoddle didn't want Chris playing for England when he was in charge there and I would be surprised if he wanted him now."
