Spurs complete Booth swoop
Andy Booth
Booth aims to boost Tottenham's goal-shy attack
Sheffield Wednesday striker Andy Booth has joined Tottenham Hotspur on a month's loan.

The 27-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and will be looking to seal a permanent deal with the Premiership club.

Spurs were desperate to increase their attacking options and hope Booth will give them more aerial power.

Booth told Spurs' website: "It's been a difficult season with my situation at Sheffield Wednesday but I have to forget that now. I'm at Tottenham and I'm going to enjoy myself.

"The move came totally out of the blue. I never expected it. The manager Paul Jewell pulled me to one side on Monday and told me and by four o'clock I was on my way down here."

He's strong in the air, very wholehearted and very genuine, one of the best professionals I've ever worked with
Spurs director of football David Pleat

The former Huddersfield trainee scored 54 goals in 123 league appearances for the Terriers before a 2.7m transfer to Hillsborough in 1996.

His form has suffered at Wednesday scoring just 27 goals in 130 league outings.

Spurs director of football David Pleat said: "He's strong in the air, very wholehearted and very genuine, one of the best professionals I've ever worked with.

"It's an opportunity for him to show himself and who knows, if he does exceptionally well, he may prove a real point.

Meanwhile, Belgian striker Gilles de Bilde is in Spain discussing a loan move to an unnamed club.

Owls boss Paul Jewell said: "I think the lad wants to go, but it's up to them to agree terms.

"Everything is agreed between the clubs, it's just down to personal terms now."
