Torquay United eased to victory over York in the first leg of their FA Trophy semi-final at Plainmoor. The Gulls took the lead when a fine team move saw Lee Phillips cross to the far post and Tim Sills slid in to bundle the ball home from close range. Phillips and Sills both had chances to double the lead before Phillips tapped in number two seconds after break. Stuart Elliott almost pulled a goal back with a stunning long-range shot but the ball crashed back off the bar.
