Rice had reached the end of his contract and left under a cloud after being dropped for their Conference play-off final against Morecambe.

But former Exeter player-coach Paul Buckle had no hesitation in signing the 21-year-old keeper following his recent appointment as Plainmoor boss.

Rice told Torquay's website: "It's good to be re-united with him as we had such a great time at Exeter."
