Kubik has World Cup and European Championship experience |
Torquay hope to appoint former Czech Republic defender Lubos Kubik as their new head coach. Kubik, 42, won 56 caps for his country and also played for Slavia Prague, Italian side Fiorentina, French club Metz and Nuremberg in Germany.
He played in the 1990 World Cup and the 1996 European Championships.
Torquay chairman Chris Roberts said: "He is my number one target and hopefully negotiations will be completed in the next couple of days."

He added: "If everything goes according to plan then he should be our coach by Monday and the paperwork will have been completed before the weekend.
"However until the ink has dried on the contract I cannot say he is our coach, only that we want him to be the next coach of Torquay United Football Club."
Current manager Ian Atkins has been offered the chance to step up into a new director of football role as part of a coaching shake-up at the club.
