| Torquay United owner Mike Bateson has named the prospective buyers of the club as a London-based group headed by Chris Roberts. Bateson had hoped the takeover would be finalised but one of the lawyers helping with the deal was taken ill. Roberts has been involved in football all his working life. Bateson told the club's website: "He chose Torquay from the many clubs on the market because of its reputation of being well run."
