Connell has been Torquay's top goalscorer this season |
Torquay's top scorer Alan Connell is facing about six weeks on the sidelines with his foot injury. The 22-year-old striker has scored six goals in 13 league games for the Gulls, but has been out since 29 October.
"It looks like a displaced fracture of the second metatarsal, which roughly looks like six weeks' rehab time," Connell told Torquay's website.
"When I was at Bournemouth and also on a rich goalscoring vein, I got a bad knee injury, but that was a lot worse."
He added: "I've got the strength of character to come back.
"For the next few weeks, I've been told to keep my weight off it, but I can do cycling and upper body weight work.
"Hopefully I'll keep a reasonable level of fitness for the first two weeks, then it will be four weeks of building it up again slowly."
