Connell is facing six weeks out
Alan Connell
Connell has been Torquay's top goalscorer this season
Torquay's top scorer Alan Connell is facing about six weeks on the sidelines with his foot injury.

The 22-year-old striker has scored six goals in 13 league games for the Gulls, but has been out since 29 October.

"It looks like a displaced fracture of the second metatarsal, which roughly looks like six weeks' rehab time," Connell told Torquay's website.

"When I was at Bournemouth and also on a rich goalscoring vein, I got a bad knee injury, but that was a lot worse."

He added: "I've got the strength of character to come back.

"For the next few weeks, I've been told to keep my weight off it, but I can do cycling and upper body weight work.

"Hopefully I'll keep a reasonable level of fitness for the first two weeks, then it will be four weeks of building it up again slowly."
