Torquay defender Steve Woods has thanked the club for offering him a three-month deal. The 26-year-old is on the comeback trail after his third knee operation in nine months.
The former Chesterfield and Stoke player was restricted to only nine league appearances for the Plainmoor side last season.
The Gulls have decided to give him a longer deal to prove his fitness.
Woods says the news has given him a lift.
"I expected to be offered just monthly contracts when my current one runs out from 1 July," he told the Herald Express.
"So for the club to say I've got a three-month deal to prove my fitness - it's a big boost for me.
"I'm really looking forward to getting my teeth stuck into my recovery. Fingers crossed, now it's down to myself and a bit of hard work."
