Smith happy with comeback showing

Phil Smith
Smith is hoping to keep his place in the team to face Histon this weekend

Swindon Town goalkeeper Phil Smith was delighted with his performance as he returned to the starting line-up against Scunthorpe on Saturday.

Smith was recently dropped following major mistakes but replaced the injured Peter Brezovan in the 3-3 away draw.

Despite conceding three goals the 28-year-old shot-stopper made a string of fine saves at Glanford Park.

He told BBC Radio Swindon: "I'm happy with the way I played. It was important I had a decent performance."

Smith lost his place after a poor display at Hartlepool last month which followed errors against Leeds United.

An injury to Brezovan opened the door to Smith who hopes to stay in the side for the FA Cup game at Histon this weekend.
