Maurice Malpas has warned Swindon Town fans it could be June before the club make their first signing of the summer.

The Town boss has held talks with two unnamed players, one from League One, another from the Championship.

Malpas is waiting for a response but he has told BBC Radio Swindon that nothing is due to happen in the next two weeks.

"I've spoken to a couple of players," said Malpas. "But they want to leave their options open. They're on holiday and will decide when they come back."

We're by far not the best payers and by far not the worst payers.

Malpas knows there are other League One clubs who will offer more money - but he also appreciates that his own club are now financially stable.

"We've got a reasonable chance with the majority of players," said Malpas. "We'll just go and see if we can sell the club. We're by far not the best payers and by far not the worst payers.

"We're a club that's on an even keel now. The new owners want to take the club forward and it's a case of trying to get that into the players heads."
