Midfielder Adams, 26, played under Sturrock at both Plymouth and Sheffield Wednesday, but left Hillsborough this summer after two years with the Owls.

Meanwhile, Spanish striker Arrieta, formerly with Haccabi Herliyza, has also put pen to paper on a contract.

"I don't think Steve is 100% yet but he brings a solidness to help the back four," Sturrock told BBC Radio Swindon.

"The problem is finding a partner for him that's going to go and support the front players which is something we're going to have to work on."

Also at the County Ground, Robins midfielder Michael Pook, 21, has put pen to paper on a one-year contract.
