Brendan Rodgers says no West Ham bid for Darren Pratley
Darren Pratley has been touted for a move to the Premier League
Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers says that West Ham have enquired about the availability of Darren Pratley.
But Rodgers says the Premier League strugglers made no bid and he expects the midfielder to still be at Swansea when the January transfer window shuts.
"[Manager] Avram Grant rang me from West Ham... last week in relation to Darren Pratley," Rodgers said.
"I told him honestly where Darren's at, there's still a big value on him but there was never a mention of any fee."
Pratley, 25, is out of contract at the end of the season and suspended talks last August to focus on his football.
The highly-rated midfielder has also been linked with Newcastle United and Bolton Wanderers, but West Ham were considered the leading contenders to snatch the former Fulham trainee.
"Unless it's a ridiculous offer we wouldn't consider anything and obviously they've [West Ham] signed [Middlesbrough midfielder] Gary O'Neil," Rodgers added.
London-born Pratley was Swansea's top scorer last season with seven goals and has made 183 league and cup appearances since arriving from Fulham for £100,000 in June 2006.
He played a key role in helping the Welsh club win the League One title in 2008 and their subsequent push for a Championship play-off place over the last two seasons.
Rodgers respects Orient threat
Pratley has not enjoyed the same form as last season, but has improved of late with three goals in the last five outings.
Swansea's Championship rivals Nottingham Forest saw a bid rejected for Pratley last summer.
During the January window Swansea have signed Exeter's Ryan Harley on a free transfer, although the midfielder will stay with the Grecians on loan until the end of the season, while striker Shefki Kuqi has had his Swansea contract terminated by mutual consent.
The Swans have also been linked with Swindon Town defender Lescinel Jean Francois, although Rodgers dismissed rumours that former front man Jason Scotland could return to the Liberty Stadium.
"There's no doubt he's [Scotland] a player that at this level can score goals, but I haven't spoken to [Ipswich manager] Paul Jewell or anyone of that ilk so he's... obviously an Ipswich player," Rodgers said.
"We've worked very hard this week making lots of calls, speaking to lots of people.
"The staff, the recruitment team, the chairman, we've all been working tirelessly to look at possibilities that maybe can help us.
"The difference with the January window is that if you're struggling in the league it can be a good chance to maybe get in reinforcements that could help the team jump up.
"It's not so easy when you're doing well and this group of players have been fantastic, because to bring in someone who's going to be better than what we have is going to be very difficult.
"One, because those players are not available more times than not, and two because we haven't got the money to buy that sort of player.
"I don't see any big point in provoking and disrupting the group. The players here have been great.
"If I think there's one or two that can support us within the short term to help us in the remaining games, then that's certainly something I'll look at."
Swansea face Leyton Orient at home on Saturday in the fourth round of the FA Cup, before returning to their Championship promotion hunt on Tuesday night at Bristol City.
