Brendan Rodgers tips Scott Sinclair for England future

Sinclair delighted with call-up

Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers says Scott Sinclair can use his England under-21 call up as a platform to reach the senior squad in the future.

Sinclair, 21, has scored 11 goals in 15 games since joining the Swans from Chelsea for £500,000 in August.

He is one of three new faces in the squad along with Manchester City's Ben Mee and Chelsea's Josh McEachran.

"As long as he's in the mix of the U21s and progressing well, there's certainly no reason why not," said Rodgers.

"He's got the talent, he's got the attributes to play at the big level and he's developing his game all the time.

"So I think he's certainly one that for the future and I'm sure that as long as he continues to perform and play well he will be on their radar.

"I know England are looking at all the talents coming through the system and I think whilst he's in the England set up then they are always looking at the players to progress and push forward.

"You've seen it over the last couple of seasons, the likes of Jack Wilshere and maybe Andy Carroll moving on.

Newcastle striker Carroll and Arsenal's Wilshere are omitted from the squad for Tuesday's friendly in Germany, with speculation mounting they they are in line for senior calls.

"I'm delighted that I got the call up," said Sinclair.

"It was my decision to leave Chelsea and I think if I was still back at Chelsea I probably wouldn't have got the call up.

"For me playing every week and scoring a couple of goals I think I can perform for England."
