Cotterill has won 16 caps for Wales since making his debut in 2005
Wales forward David Cotterill has finally completed his loan move from Sheffield United to Swansea City.
The final paperwork on his loan was finalised on Tuesday and he is then expected to sign a three-year deal in January for an initial £500,000 fee.
Cotterill, 21, joined the Blades in July 2008 for an undisclosed sum after an initial loan spell from Wigan.
But he has found first-team appearances limited this season starting just three times in 14 Championship appearances.
Cardiff-born Cotterill ended Swansea's play-off hopes last April, scoring from the penalty spot in United's 1-0 win.
The player began training with his new team-mates at the Liberty Stadium on Monday and has now been confirmed as a Swansea player.
A permanent deal is understood to have been agreed in principle between the two Championship rivals, but that cannot be finalised until the transfer window reopens on 1 January.
Swans boss Paulo Sousa has been looking for more attacking options as Swansea are the lowest scorers in the Championship with 14 goals in 16 games.
"The loan market has given us a great opportunity to add to our squad," Sousa told Swansea's official website.
"The fact that David is young, Welsh and already a senior international is a bonus. It means we have another Welshman within our ranks with the characteristics we are looking for.
"He has the attributes I expect from a player in his position. He brings quality and different characteristics to the squad that will help us improve."
Cotterill, who has 15 caps for Wales, started his career at Bristol City and scored for the Robins in their 7-1 thrashing by Swansea in September 2005.
In August 2006, he joined Wigan Athletic for £2m, but made just 18 Premier League appearances in 18 months, prompting a move to United.
