Craig Beattie celebrates his goal in Swansea's 1-0 win at WBA
Craig Beattie says he may have ruined his reputation at old club West Brom after scoring Swansea's winner there.
"Players going back to old clubs and scoring always seems to happen," said the Swans' record £800,000 signing.
"I had a great reception from the West Brom fans and the applause when my name was read out meant a lot to me - although my name will be muck here now!
"There was no animosity when I left and I wish them all of the best for the rest of the season, except against us."
The Scottish striker endured a disappointing, injury-disrupted two years at the Hawthorns.
West Brom 0-1 Swansea
He managed four league goals at Albion, two of which came in August before he was signed by Swansea manager Paulo Sousa.
On his return to the Championship leaders he latched onto Mark Gower's pass to smash left-footed past Baggies keeper Scott Carson in the 50th minute to seal a 1-0 win.
The goal was his second in successive away games and won Beattie the praise of Sousa.
"He's one of the players who is improving a lot but everyone has got a job and when everyone does their job it helps us to score," said the Swans boss.
"And for Craig, as a striker, you need to score and if you score then it's important for your confidence."
I just wasn't playing for West Brom as often as I'd like
Craig Beattie
Beattie says he is relishing the chance to play regularly in the Championship.
"I just wasn't playing for West Brom as often as I'd like so the reason I went to Swansea was for football reasons," he told BBC Sport Wales.
"It wasn't a difficult decision for me to make although I was sad at leaving West Brom.
"But it wasn't about me scoring the winner back at the Hawthorns, that is just a nice aside.
"The main thing is we won a vital three points against a very good team at a ground that few sides will have any joy at this season.
"We're on a good run, the boys are on a high at the moment and the spirit in there is absolutely fantastic.
"The team worked extremely hard and we deserved our win - now we must build on this victory against Blackpool on Saturday."
