Transfer market frustrates Sousa

Swansea manager Paulo Sousa admits he is finding it tough to bring in new faces on similar wages to his own players at the Liberty Stadium.

Sousa is still searching for a striker, and a defender and is also considering a loan move for a midfielder to cover for injuries to key players.

"When we bring in players, we bring them with more or less the same level of wages that we have here," he said.

"They are very hard to find. It's not a question of buying."

Sousa added: "The fans would like to see new players but we need to care about the things that have been done in the past.

"It's not easy to bring in players with wages completely different to the wages we have here.

"If you do, you create a lot of instability in your group and we care about that a lot.

"We try to keep everyone happy with their wages and contract."

Swansea have been linked with Millwall defender Zak Whitbread along with a host of strikers including Southampton duo Marek Saganowski and Grzegorz Rasiak, former Sheffield United front-man Danny Webber, Crystal Palace's Alan Lee and Dutch striker Jhon van Beukering of NEC Nijmegen.

Sousa also needs cover in midfield with Ferrie Bodde (knee), Darren Pratley (shoulder), Joe Allen (hamstring) and new signing Jordi Lopez (leg) all out of action.

But he said: "We are close, speaking and trying."
