Scotland targets play-off berth

Scotland scored 29 goals for the Swans last season

Jason Scotland says Swansea City can reach the Championship play-offs after ending a run of eight successive draws with a 2-0 win at Burnley.

The Trinidad & Tobago striker, 29, scored both goals in the win, taking his tally to 11 for the season.

"We've come here and got the monkey off our back getting the three points," he told BBC Wales. "It's a relief."

"Some of the boys in the dressing room... have been celebrating because we haven't had a win for eight games."

The only sour point of the win was midfielder Leon Britton picking up his fifth yellow card of the season meaning he will be suspended for Saturday's visit of high-flying Reading.

But that has not stopped Scotland from believing the Swans can mount a play-off challenge.

They are currently 10th in the Championship on 38 points, six points off the play-offs.

Had they won six of the eight drawn matches in which they dominated the opposition, they would have been fourth in the Championship.

"We sit in mid-table and will take it one game at a time and hopefully climb up the table to get into the play-offs," added Scotland.

"It is possible, but we do need to take one game at a time. There are tough teams in this division.

"We've played all of the teams and we know what they are like, but the aim is to get into the top six."
