Ferrie Bodde's displays have courted attention from Premier League clubs

Swansea City midfielder Ferrie Bodde is to return to Holland to continue his recovery after a successful operation on a cruciate knee ligament injury.

Dutchman Bodde, 26, is out for the rest of the season after being carried off in the 3-2 defeat by Birmingham.

"The surgeon was really pleased with the way the operation went," said Swans physio Richie Evans.

"Now he will spend the next few weeks rehabilitating back home in Holland with his family."

Bodde will be looked after by medial staff at former club ADO Den Haag along with the doctor and team physio of the Dutch national side.

"They have a specialist centre out in Holland like Lilleshall where he will get the best medical treatment possible," said Evans.

"They have welcomed him in with open arms.''

Bodde has been one of the driving forces behind Swansea's early success after their promotion to the Championship.

The Dutchman has attracted admiring glances from Premier League clubs and the January transfer window is likely to have seen several bids for Bodde.

The injury means there should be no dilemma caused by multi-million pound offers but now Roberto Martinez's side must still play on without their midfield dynamo.

"I remember everything about the injury, it was a challenge on the end of the pitch," said Bodde.

"I got a little push in the back, I stepped on my left foot and my knee collapsed inside.

"I heard a cracking sound and then I know what's happened - not exactly know but I know it was not good.

"I was not happy but you have to be positive for the future, for your recovery, because if you are negative it's not helping you.

"You want to play the season so it's frustrating but those things happen in football."
